Distinguishing feature
The Luce Pavilion lies on an island in the middle of the Weiming Lake. This wooden pavilion looks like a pagoda with a veranda nearby. Under the pavilion there is a basement, and outside the pavilion there are corridors. It is said that there are tunnels in the pavilion in case of wartime emergencies.

History
The Luce Pavilion was donated by Mr. Henry R. Luce to honor his father Mr. Henry W. Luce, former vice president of Yenching University. In 1998, the University decided to redecorate it for PKU’s 100th birthday, and it is now used as a meeting room for faculties.
