The tablet was made of stone, in rectangle shape, placed horizontally, carved with exquisite graphic of dragon, and engraved two poems by Qianlong on both sides, but hardly to recognized.
The tablet was dug up from the west gate when Yenching University builted new schoolhouse there. It should be the relic of Changchun yuan.
Conclude from the inscription, these two poems were made in the fifty-second year of Qianlong, in memory of Changchun yuan 40 years ago by the Emperor. On one side is a seven-character octave named Pine Planting, the other named a Piece of Wall. There‘s nothing unique in content, but with some vivid details in remembering the past. It should be the real handwriting of Qianlong, and the mellow handsome writing proves to be typical Qianlong style.
